Making Fabric Labels

For ages I've been saying I want to have some fabric labels to sew onto my handsewn goodies...especially now that some are being ordered and given to people that I don't personally know...so I kind of want these people to be able to look me up and tell other people about the things I've made.

So I took a look on Pinterest and found an awesome, simple tutorial for how to make my own fabric labels...you can find it over at Dolls and Daydreams. The hardest part of the tutorial was finding shops in the UK that actually stock freezer paper...Hobbycraft do in case you are wondering.

Here's my labels drying off...love them...think I'll be making plenty more of these in the future!
Here's to sewing them into everything from now on!

Fathers Day Cards

Now I know that all the fathers day cards have been received and opened I can share them on my blog to show you all. Every year I go with a theme for the design and make all the cards using that theme and just change a colour here and there between the cards..saves me a little time by not having to design 4 different cards but still means everybody gets a different card to the others.

The first design features a large Dad stamp...
Made using:
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Dad stamp (Hobbycraft)
  • Baked Brown Sugar ink (SU)
  • Baked Brown Sugar cardstock (SU)
  • Pacific Point ink (SU)
Then for the second Dad stamp card I swapped out the Baked Brown Sugar..
Made using:
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Dad stamp (Hobbycraft)
  • Real Red ink (SU)
  • Real Red cardstock (SU)
  • Pacific Point ink (SU)
Design 2 kept the same Gorgeous Grunge background and 2 colourschemes..
 Made using....
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (SU)
  • Need For Speed stamp set (SU)
  • Dapper Dad stamp set (SU)
  • Baked Brown Sugar ink (SU)
  • Baked Brown Sugar cardstock (SU)
  • Pacific Point ink (SU)

Made using:

The cards seem to have gone down well, I'm looking forward to seeing what new stamp sets SU will have in the new catalogue to play with for next years Fathers Day card designs!

Been Sewing...Baby Gifts

Been doing a lot of sewing recently and there's seems to be a lot of baby things I need to make for friends and family who are all having kids this year...

These are for my new little nephew Isaac...choosing the fabrics were made easier by knowing that my sister in law was having a little boy, whereas everybody else I'll be making for are having surprises...gender neutral baby fabric is so hard to find!

I chose 2 fabrics for Isaac's presents...I love the bee fabric..thought it could also be used as quite a good gender neutral fabric too. I made a standard shaped bib and burp cloth from the bee fabric.

Then I found this awesome blue dinosaur fabric which I totally fell in love with, shame it didn't come in more colours though. I made a standard shaped bib, 2 bandana style bibs, a burp cloth and a soft door closer from the dinosaur fabric.
The soft door closer idea came from the Practically Functional blog via a pin on Pinterest, such a simple yet brilliant idea and it works so well!
My sister in law loved them and the bibs fitted baby Isaac well so I'd say that the first batch of baby gifts were a total success!

June Card Club

This month's card club saw us trying out some new ideas and some non-standard design cards...We made a pop-up box card and  handbag for storing some cards in.

Love the idea of a pop-up box card...though I once again didn't stick to the design of the sample card, I changed the stamp set I used to better suit the person who will receive the card.

For the pop-up box card I used:
  • Midnight Muse cardstock
  • The Open Sea stamp set
  • Sassy Salutations stamp set
  • Wild Wasabi ink
  • Crumb Cake ink

For the card and handbag we used:
  • Tempting Turquoise ink
  • Raspberry Ripple ink and cardstock
  • Daffodil Delight ink
  • Wild Wasabi ink
  • Baked Brown Sugar Ruffle Stretch Trim
  • Large Pearl Basic Jewels
  • Petite Petals stamps set and punch
  • Chalk Talk stamp set
Don't they look great together, could use the handbag for so many other gift bag ideas too.

Butterfly Birthday Cards

Love the Stampin' Up Pappillon Potpourri stamp set so much and the punches are great too, even if you don't have/want to use the stamps you can still punch out coloured/patterned butterflies.

Whipped up a couple of quick, bright and bold butterfly birthday cards...

The first is made using non Stampin' Up inks and cardstock.
Both cards use Sassy Salutations stamp set for the sentiment, stamped using black StazOn...I know I always use Sassy Salutations but they are so easy and versatile to use for any type of card.
This second card uses Stampin' Up inks:
  • Strawberry Slush
  • Coastal Cabana
  • Pistachio Pudding
  • Crisp Canteloupe
