Buttons!
Yay I've managed to combine this weeks SBS Challenge design team piece, Papertake Weekly challenge with something that I've been needing to make for a while... i've made a button storage box as my piddly tray they were in was starting to overflow so it wouldn't close... This started out life as a tub of jelly beans.. I then covered it with white tissue paper and PVA glue... then i stamped another sheet of tissue with a red ink pad and then covered that with PVA onto the pot as well... after many hours drying I could add the dotty ribbon, then the red felt flowers and finally some dome letter stickers to spell out the word 'buttons'... so there we are practical, useful and fun to make... oh and very messy lol!
So come join in this week's SBS challenge 'something useful'!

Puppy Love ATC
Just a quick piece this time.. it's my entry for 2 of this weeks challenges... Arty Girlz theme is 'no shop bought pattern papers' and Scrummy Stash Cafe 'all that glistens is not necessarily golden'.... so I've made an ATC with a stamped background using the dovecraft puppy love set and the swirls set, then i stamped my gold inkpad all over it to add sparkle... i used my new PB stamp 'Just next to you!' which i coloured in with marvys and added gem hearts to replace the stamped hearts.. and finally i added some of the gold hearts rescued from my mum's wedding presents lol... so in this case gold is glistening mainly.. but the red hearts sparkle too :)

Happy B'day Anne-Marie
It's one of my SBS 18 sister's birthdays on wednesday...so happy birthday for wednesday Anne-Marie... i've been a bit busy recently so I didn't manage to get a card made and posted off to the USA for her... so I made her a digi scrapbook page nstead and emailed it over :) The papers are from the new kit from kaboodle doodle 'party picnic' with happy birthday cupcakes and lollies stuck over the papers. I used a stamp flower image and then put the message over the top of the image... very similar to the signature Anne-Marie has at the end of each post... I then added pink ricrac, a red tag and pink brads to look like they are securing the tag to the page... and i'm glad that she liked it :)

Black & white wedding card
This is was a relaxing card to make after a stressy shift at work.... it's for Susie's blog candy challenge black & white, as she's celebrating that she's getting married soon... i know it's cheeky but it also happens to fit in with the Dutch Dare challenge this week 'black white and one colour' and Cute Card Thursday's 'The 2 of us'... but the card will be sent to susie anyway... I used black, white and shades of grey as my colours, well except for the skin tone lol... i took white cardstock and distressed the edges with black ink... stuck on my backing paper from the kaboodle doodle paer kit 'grey'... stuck on my coloured Anita's wedding stamp image.. silver inked the wedding sentiment and made it 3d with glue dots... then finally i added some silver ribbon to the bottom and tied a bow :)
Allstar Pinwheel
I've been wanting to make a pinwheel for ages after i saw it on several Stampin' Up ladies blogs... so i took 2 papers from the Kaboodle Doodle kit 'Allstar'.... pinned them with a chunky yellow brad... the stick is a McD's straw recovered with pink paper and the seal of the paper covered with sticky godl ribbon to hide it :)

Altered treasure chest
Playing around with some more Kaboodle Doodle bits, this time it's the skulls kit using the images instead of the papers. The treasure chest was originally part of a clever wedding present given to my mum but i accquired it once the present had been dug up lol (there was a treasure chest theme to the present)... so i took some black and gold tissue paper and pva glue and recovered the whole chest.. then i glued on and glazed over the skulls images and placed a treasure map on the base of the inside of the chest... now i can use it as a bead stash box lol!

You're Leaving...
My mum ordered a leaving card for a colleague who recently bought a new mini convertable. Her mini is purple so i found an image of a purple coloured mini driving up a german mountain road... driving away seemed apt for a leaving card... The mini hasbeen decoupaged in 4 layers... The sentiment has been hand drawn in silver pen then inked over with silver and lilac then made 3d with glue dots... then i added some gems round the edges and a chunky piece of silver ribbon tied into a bow... this means i can also enter the card for the challenge over at This Thursday where the theme is 'Bowdacious Ribbons and Bows'.

Wooden cube necklace
Okies, so here's a necklace that I've made today for the OH... some of you may recognise the style if you watch Top Gear closely, as Richard Hammond wears one like this but with darker wooden cubes... so because my OH thinks Hammond is great I had to make him one of the necklaces.. so just a quick, simple make using; clasp, jump ring, 7 wooden cube beads and black cotton thong... now I'm just waiting for him to say he wants to grow his hair like Hammonds lol!
Seasons ATCs
So the new challenge over at Tilda & Friends has been set by Vanessa and it's going to last for a whole 4 weeks! Her theme is seasons, so we have to make an ATC for each season using a magnolia character or stamp, I've used 3 tildas and an edwin for my ATCs.
My spring ATC uses an image of Tilda skipping coloured in with mavrys, flower vellu for the backing (thanks alison i've recycled it) and some green butterfly ribbon.
My summer ATC uses an image of tilda going swimming coloured in with my marvys, 2 felt flowers, backing paper from the kaboodle doodle kit 'skulls' and some papermania sticky ribbon.
My winter ATC uses a christmas edwin image coloured in with marvys, backing paper from the kaboodle doodle kit 'allstar', a wire crafty bits star and a christmas tree from a pack of Anita's dimensions stickers.
My autumn ATC uses a windswept tilda image coloured in with my marvys, wood effect backing paper, 2 gold eyelets, a wooden leaf embellishment, papermania stickers, and some wired wool from my ooh lal la goodies :)
One mammoth challenge completed, thanks for the great challenge nessy!

Vintage with a twist
This week's Arty Girlz challenge is 'vintage', so being me i had to do it with a bit of a twist lol. I got the image from crissi's blog. I took a beermat and stripped the papers off, then i used neon colour inkpads dragged across it to create the background, then smeared back around the edge and finally stamped swirls and hearts onto the mat... then the image was stuck on top... so i guess that makes this kind of retro vintage lol!
Recycle!
Ok so this week's challenge over at A Spoon Full Of Sugar is 'recycle' and here's my piece for the challenge... the recycled part are the chunky blue buttons that my nan found buried in her room from a jumper long ago thrown away along with a variety of other buttons... i've used; white card, kaboodle doodle backing paper from the allstar kit, red dotty ribbon, blue gem brad, 2 chunky blue buttons and a sugar nellie image coloured in with my marvys again :)
E is for... embellishments!
Ok so this fortnight over at the ABC challenge we have chosen the theme 'E is for embellishments', between us we have tried to use a variety of embellishments to inspire you.
I've made an altered beermat where i've inked the background, added a tilda image coloured in with watercolour pencils and then embellished the remaining space. My embellishments are; mulberry ribbed ribbon, a gold eyelet and pink felt flowers.
So come give the challenge a try, you can make whatever you like.. and who knows perhaps you could introduce us or other viewers to a type of embellishments we haven't seen or used before :)
No pink hedgie!
So here's a double challenge card that I've just made, it's for this weeks Penny Black challenge 'no pink' and this weeks Scrummy Stash Cafe challenge 'Angie's eyelet challenge'.... So i've made a card using; white cardstock, lilac decorative paper, gold ribbon, 2 gold eyelets, gold hearts, 2 gold star brads, 2 vellum flowers and a stamped image of my new PB stamp coloured in with my marvys :) not a hint of pink in sight :)
