Decopatch Penguin

 I said there would be more decopatch to come, low and behold there was a penguin that had to be done to join the many penguins in my study. The MDF Man wasn't at the latest craft show so I didn't manage to get any new things to decopatch, only left me this little penguin to work on.

 This penguin is made of papiermache, rather than mdf like all the recent projects have been, it was on sale in hobbycraft so had to be purchased. The paper was a bargain too, a giant roll for only £1 and there's loads left over so I will have to find myself something else to decopatch with it.

 I'm going to take a little break from decopatch for now to work on all the knitting projects I've got going/really want to get started on....oh and studying for the aircraft type course I'm on till the end of March.

Penguin Box Card

 For the last few years I've always made Dan a penguin christmas card and this year was no different....however it was a card with a bit of a difference...earlier in the year he commented about how much he liked the boat box card I made so I thought I'd combine the box cards with a penguin design.

So here's the finished penguin box card.

To make the card I've used:

• Turquoise sparkly card
• White cardstock
• Black cardstock
• Windowsheet
• Holiday Home stamp set
• No Peeking stamp set
• Gorgeous Grunge stamp set
• Pacific Point ink
• Daffodil Delight ink
• Gumball Green ink
• Real Red ink
• Owl Builder Punch

Really quite an effective card to make and simple once you've made a few, the instructions can be a little daunting but the results are worth the initial struggle. I'm thinking there shall be many more box cards in 2015. The good news is that Dan also really liked his card and was glad he got his own box card too.

Making Penguins

So I will admit I have a bit of a penguin obsession, I know...

Last year I made some icing penguins for our christmas cake, they were very fiddly and it was such a shame to have to eat them... so this year I decided to make some out of fimo instead so they could be reused and not eaten.

The white fimo of the penguins is glittery making them a little bit more festive, can't wait to see them on our christmas cake...now I just need to design the rest of our cake.

The other bit of penguin madness started at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace a few weeks ago.... Mum bought me a half metre of penguin print fabric that I just couldn't leave behind. I made myself a tote bag from the fabric and still have enough left to make another makeup bag or something of a similar size.

 Anyone else get the pont that I kinda really like penguins???

Had to make my boyfriend something a little bit different to all the rest of course so I used the Top Notes Bigz die he bought me for my birthday to make a cute little penguin. I freehand drew the the beak, feet and wings.
