December Wedding Card Order

This month I had an order for a wedding card from a regular customer. She always gives me a detailed brief of what the card needs to feature.

This time the card had to have:

• The couple's names
• The wedding date
• Holly
• Blue Topaz for a december birthstone
• QPR blue
• Light christmas theme

 Here's what I came up with...

 

The cardstock is sparkly and similar to the blue topaz birthstone. The background features embossed snowflakes and some blue glitter stickles. The holly made a lovely, simple embellishment for the wedding dress and added to the christmas feel of the card. The QPR shade of blue featured as the groom's waistcoat, the ink for the sentiment and also for the text inside the card.

I always prefer to put the names and dates inside of the card, so it doesn't clutter the front of the card but also so it can be a main feature of the card insert itself. I even added a few miniature snowflakes around the text to keep the christmas/winter wedding theme going.

Hopefully both my customer and the couple themselves like the card.

Mr & Mrs Wedding Card

 Here's a card made for an order for an upcoming August wedding. No colourscheme to work from so I went for simple, smart colours that gave the card a classy look. It's quite a chunky, weighted card so hopefully it shall make a nice keepsake for the couple.

I got to try out my newly obtained, retired Mr & Mrs Stampin' Up stamp (thanks Paula for sourcing it for me). After a few stamps in different colours I ventured into heat embossing the Mr & Mrs and I'm quite pleased with how it came out in the silver.    The flowers are layered with a white polka dot flower behind a black polka dot flower and a clear gem brad to hold them together. The black card is very glittery and compliments the glimmer of the silver card body.After tidying up my study for decorating recently I came across this pale grey ribbon with the silver thread which turned out to blend with the rest of the card perfectly, didn't want to overload it with too much glitter and sparkle.
The customer was very happy with the card so lets the couple will be too.     

Wedding Card For Teachers

 This wedding card was an order from a regular customer, a lady who regularly gives me challenge cards to make..this card was cetainly no exception...

The couple are getting married today (19th July 2014) and they are both teachers, one teaches P.E and the other teaches science.

So the challenge was to include the following in the design:

• Their names- Ben & Alex
• Science theme
• P.E theme
• The wedding date
• Something wedding based

 This is what I came up with after many weeks of sketching and resketching ideas....

Late one night a brain wave came to me to try and make their names using elements from the periodic table to add the science to the card..this worked perfectly till the ex of Alex...so I made a new element that follows on from the last in the real periodic table to cover it. 

 

The sport theme came into the card in the form of a cricket bat, which I added the wedding date to.. I then figured I could make the name elements look like an equation where the date on the bat was the solution.

I then added the wedding element to the card using my favourite heart embossing plate, To Have and To Hold ribbon and hearts to represent the bride and groom.

Hopefully the couple like it as much as the lady who ordered it from me did...roll on the next design challenge!

Wedding Card

 When Mum came over to go to the rugby match the other weekend she realised she needed a wedding card for a friend, for the following friday...good thing I have a stash of cards ready for these short notice orders!
I had a card I'd started at a Stampin' Up training day that I didn't like the embellishments that had been used on the sample so I just stamped the sentiment and background and left the card blank for whatever occasion I may need a congratulations card for... well a wedding seems a pretty good opportunity to use this card.

 I used my favourite wedding stamp (not a Stampin Up item) and left it colourless to keep the card subtle. We then decided the card needed a little bling around the edges so I added a few SU Basic Pearl Jewels for good measure.
 

Weddings, weddings, weddings

 I've had a spree of wedding card orders recently so I've been trying out new designs to try and find one that suits as many colourschemes as possible... and here's my new design...

 Simple yet elegant and versatile that it lends itself well to all the colours I needed to incorporate to it.

A colourful bit of ribbon and some funky shaped buttons are all the card needs to help it pop and make it different from the others.

 Even a subtle bit of personalisation with the couples names up the side just to make it that little bit different and special for the recipients.

Now to come up with a new design before the next bunch of wedding card orders come in!

More friends getting married...

This seems to be the year everyone is getting married, been to more weddings and receptions this year than in my life up till now!

 This time it was the wedding of a couple of my OH's school friends.

The idea for the alphabet photography surname presents actually came about when we got invited to this wedding early this year... we just happened to go to another friends wedding before this one and thought the surname frame was an awesome unique present that we made for them ourselves...

 

This wedding is the reason I'm now hooked on hunting out letters everywhere we go. Got quite a little collection of letters now so hopefully I can start taking orders on them soon... if only I could find some Cs, Ds, Gs and Ps!

Wedding gifts for our friends

 Back in August 2 of our friends got married so I took to making them a personalised card and gifts to match their colourscheme. The wedding colourscheme was sage green so I took the green as the main colour for the card and added sage ribbon to the flags.

 I'm in love with my SLR camera it's still a pretty new toy to me so I loved playing with it to make this present! Inspired by the alphabet photography we bought ourselves earlier in the year I decided to give it a go myself to make really personal presents.

All of the 'letter' photos have been taken on our travels. Our friend's surname is OAK, k really is not an easy letter to find! The O was taken in Amsterdam, the A in Puerto Banus and the K in Sabinillas, Spain.

Last but not least I made them a pair of celebration flags. Just married on the front with a sage green bow, their names and the date on the back. Love how versatile these flags are, I think I'd have them as part of the guest favours should I ever need them :)

Wedding Order - Just Married Flags

You know when you're out in shops and see things you think are cute, then check the price tag and think 'how much?! I could make them so much cheaper!' Well that's what these flags are... A friend and I were out shopping the other week talking about her cousins wedding, she's planning it, when we saw some simple just married flags in a shop.... they were £4.50 each! So I got her to hold up one of the flags so I could take a photo on my Blackberry for reference and make some up myself for her.

After messing around with fonts on the computer and printing out plenty of test sheets to position the words right for when the card gets folded round the dowel... test punching the hearts till I figured where the perfect position was to line up with the words... I finally finished up with these lovelies...I had to 'force' myself to buy the heart punch, as somehow it's the one shape punch I didn't already have in my collection... and then I found some super (now I won't call them kiddies, though they were near the kiddies craft section in the shop) shaped edge scissors - a zigzag pair and a scalloped pair. The scalloped pair were perfect for cutting the flag's edge, then I used a silver pen and made a dot in each scallop to just add an extra little 'zing' to it.
Only charged £2 a piece for them, so that's a super saving for her... and a lot of spare dowel for me so I think Imay be doing some more flags for other occasions too, I'm thinking babies, anniversaries and birthdays so far...

Seeing Double!

This weeks Crafty Creations Challenge is 'Seeing Double'... can you believe this is challenge #128! Can't believe it's been so long since I left the design team there!

So my card this week is actually an order (for mum again) for some friend's that are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary at the end of the month... all I had as a specific detail to include was their wedding photo.. which I received as a scanned copy of a scanned copy so not great quality by time I tried to print it out. In the end i managed to Photoshop it to good enough quality to get decent printouts where I could use each of their heads on the card.

My doubles for this challenge are: 2 gold bows, 2 die cut scalloped heart frames and 2 die cut swirl corner pieces.
The corners, frames and background were made using my BigShot (yes it's still my obsession after my sewing machine lol), for the background I rubbed a gold inkpad over it to catch the embossed sections. I love the gold hearts ribbon, nice little extra that I found whilst rummaging the local fabric shop again the other week.

Black & white wedding card

This is was a relaxing card to make after a stressy shift at work.... it's for Susie's blog candy challenge black & white, as she's celebrating that she's getting married soon... i know it's cheeky but it also happens to fit in with the Dutch Dare challenge this week 'black white and one colour' and Cute Card Thursday's 'The 2 of us'... but the card will be sent to susie anyway... I used black, white and shades of grey as my colours, well except for the skin tone lol... i took white cardstock and distressed the edges with black ink... stuck on my backing paper from the kaboodle doodle paer kit 'grey'... stuck on my coloured Anita's wedding stamp image.. silver inked the wedding sentiment and made it 3d with glue dots... then finally i added some silver ribbon to the bottom and tied a bow :)

Replica Wedding Card

Ok so this card may look similar to those of you who remember the card i made for my mum's wedding... she loved it so much that she is going to frame it... but she liked it so much she wanted me to make another as similar to hers as possible for a friend of hers who's getting married soon... so for the sharp eyed people who remember the original you will see the gems are square not round on this one and the dress is different... apart from that the rest is identical to the original.

I saw that someone had made one of these cards for the SBS18 challenge this week and i just had to make one myself. This is going to one of the OH's sisters as she's getting married at the start of august.....

So i've used:

• lilac cardstock
• gold heart print vellum
• pearl and silver brads
• textured white card, stamped with silver
• vellum sentiment mounted on lilac paper
• pink ribbon
• beige mottled card to represent skin tone
• 7 pearlescent beads and tiger tail for the necklace
• flowers cut out from some funky fairys papers

Wedding card

Wedding card made for the scrummy stash cafe challenge for their wedding bells challenge, as june is the start of the wedding season...and.. this can go to some people who i know who happen to be getting married abroad sometime at the end of june/early july time, nothing too fancy as i wouldn't want to make their present (exploding box) look any less fabulous than it is lol
