September Card Club...Part 1

 This month's card club saw us trying some new things...a non card project and a simple, yet very effective technique using acetate.

Starting with the acetate based card. We used:

• Daffodil Delight Blendabilities
• Old Olive Blenabilities
• Melon Mambo Blendabilities
• StazOn
• Window Sheets
• Petite Petal stamp set
• Mossy Meadow inkpad
• Hello Honey inkpad
• Hello Honey ribbon 
• Kind Koala stamp

  Here's how the card looks when you gently pull upwards on the ribbon.

Then we tried a simple deisgn we could easily reproduce in a variety of different colourschemes.

We used:

• Work Of Art stamp set
• Rose Red inkpad
• Blackberry Bliss cardstock
• Blackberry Bliss inkpad
• Lovely Lilac inkpad
• Blackberry Bliss ribbon

I slightly changed this card from the original we were meant to follow, I made mine portrait instead of landscape and I moved the sentiment to the bottom corner rather than having it on the centre of the card.

We used:

• Real Red cardstock
• Real Red inkpad
• Tempting Turquoise inkpad
• Bermuda Bay inkpad
• Daffodil Delight inkpad
• Lovely Lace embossing folder
• Remembering Your Birthday stampset

The final project was the non-card project...

We used:

• Glass photo frame
• Papillon Potpourri stampset
•  Swallowtail stamp
• Windowsheet
• Daffodil Delight Blendabilities
• Old Olive Blendabilities
• Melon Mambo Blendabilities
• Pumpkin Pie inkpad
• Daffodil Delight inkpad 

September card club part 2 will be at the end of month, playing with another new stamp set to make some christmas cards.

Photo Frame Makeover

 In the Hobbycraft sale I found a half price frame (the same as the one pictured below) but it was a little worse for wear. It had chunks of paint missing and the acetate photo cover was scratched beyond use. I had to get the stock photo from the Hobbycraft website as I forgot to take one before I went about spraying the frame up.

 I decided the frame would be going in my newly decorated study so that was the perfect excuse to respray it blue. I chose the blue paint that I have already used on a couple of items in the study so that it blends nicely. After the paint had dried I went about scuffing the paint with a piece of white scotchbright to give the frame a bit of a shabby chic look to it. I also replaced the acetate photo cover for a new piece of acetate.

 Now all I need to do is pick a photo to put in the frame!

Scrabble Wordplay Decor

Here's another idea that's been sat on my Pinterest board for quite a while waiting to be done.. finally starting to make a bit of a dent on my to do list of projects, till I find a load more that is!

I found this frame in the Hobbycraft sale ages ago and I used it for a Valentines frame to sit on our mantle, if you wan to see it again then it's here.

I just thought that it needed a bit of a change ok so this is still a bit lovey but isn't as Valentines Day in my head. The backing paper is actually a sample of wallpaper that I picked up walking round a DIY store and then I glued some scrabble tiles on top to finish off a simple, yet cute frame to go on our mantle till the next piece of holiday decor is needed.

V-Day Frame

I've never bothered with Valentines decorations before but after seeing so many lovely pieces out there in blogland I thought I should give it a try too.

Can't claim credit for the twig heart, mum bought us that to join the wall fo hearts we have in our dining room. But the framed piece is my first bit of V day decor for the house using subway art as the background and pom poms to make the heart, both of which i totally dig at the moment..

I've used:

• Subway art from Krista's blog
• 7x5 dark wood frame (good ol' hobbycraft sale)
• Corrugated card (to mount the subway art on)
• Pink felt
• Pink t-shirt scraps (for the pom poms and little hearts)
• Good ol' trusty glue gun

So now both these lovelies are sitting up on our mantel making it look fab!

Collage frames

So here we go with another shop inspired idea recreated using more of those fab little 4x6 ikea frames! No way was I going to pay the shop prices so out came the stash of bits at home once more.
I've used:

• Dulux chocloate wood paint
• 9 ikea plain wood frames
• Super strength evostick glue
• Twine for the (hanging)

Now it's hanging in our lounge full of photos from our trip to egypt, with a mix of colour and black/white prints, will look even better when it's hanging in our little cottage next month :)

Tri-Fold Frames

So I thought we needed some pretty frames in our house and typical me I imagined in my head what I wanted and once again shops let me down, so I made my own! Typical of my mum the first time she saw them she wanted a set for her too (in muddy puddle of course as she's obsessed with that colour) and then Dan's mum saw them and wanted a set too... so low and behold 3 sets of frames done and 2 christmas presents sorted good and early too lol!

I've used:

• 9 plain wood ikea 4x7 frames


• 6 wickes small barrel hinges


• 9 sets of hobbycraft wooden flowers


• Chocolate paint


• Muddy puddle paint


• Caramel paint


• Papercraft pearl stones


• Papercraft victorian style ribbons

Now to find some photos to put in them before I have to give them away!
